A moment to pause and reflect

Just want to take a moment today to say this to the good people who comment on these blog posts, and also to those who are too shy to leave comments but instead send me emails (or call! or visit the shop, even!) - you are the most freaking awesomely wonderful bunch! THANK YOU for your many kindnesses and good humor and great reading suggestions and intelligent literary remarks and all around general drollery. You make my day, you really do. THANKS.

Comments:
On behalf of your fans, you provide us with valuable literary insights and escapism from our dreary 'banker\lawyer\insurance' jobs. And for this, we thank you!!

When you get around to writing that book, remember Kate Swift's advice to George Willard. "You must not become a mere peddler of words. The thing to learn is to know what people are thinking about, not what they say."

Name that novel.

I hope you don't think I was disparaging at all, re occupations and the necessity thereof - instead, I merely meant to thank the luck/life choices/work history/slacker-ness that has brought me to where I am today. Selling books in old ragged Gap clothes. Fight the good fight...

Your pop quiz: I had to Google... I've never read any books by Sherwood Anderson. None. I may sound well-read, but my god, there are great swaths of literature I've never even approached. Just think of all I have to look forward to! I find it very exciting.

At first I thought yes. But, then I re-read your post. (imagine that, not only do we read your posts, but we read them more than once!) I realized you were expressing gratitude, as a book pirate should, in your cache and treasures. May a steady wind guide your ship.
